**Objective:** To provide an immersive beginner-level experience in perfumery, focusing on aroma chemical formulations, dilutions, concentrations, and the creation of accords, all while receiving personalized feedback and guidance from an experienced perfumer.

**Possible Course Structure**
**Session 1: Introduction to Perfumery (1 Hour)**
- **Overview of Perfumery:**
- History and significance of perfumery.
- Different types of fragrances and their applications.
- **Introduction to Olfactory Sense:**
- Understanding the sense of smell and how it relates to perfumery.
- Discussing personal fragrance preferences.
**Session 2: Materials and Safety (1 Hour)**
- **Essential Materials:**
- Overview of common aroma chemicals and natural ingredients. Understanding diluents, solvents, emulsifiers, carriers, ketones, aldehydes, etc.
- Discussion of necessary equipment for home perfumery (scales, beakers, vials, etc.) And where to store formulas.
- **Safety Guidelines:**
- Handling of fragrance materials and diluents.
- Proper storage and safety precautions.
- IFRA, RIFM, EWG, FDA, TTB
**Session 3: Understanding Dilutions and Concentrations (1 Hour)**
- **The Importance of Dilution:**
- Concepts of perfume concentration (e.g., parfum, eau de parfum, eau de toilette).
- **Hands-on Activity:**
- Measuring and creating different dilutions for various fragrance strengths.
- **Exercise:**
- Participants create their first simple dilutions and learn about Concentration vs. Concentrate.
**Session 4: Aroma Chemical Formulations (1 Hour)**
- **Introduction to Aroma Chemicals:**
- Classifying aroma chemicals: naturals vs. synthetics.
- Understanding the role of aroma chemicals in perfumery.
- **Hands-On Crafting:**
- Creating a small formula using selected aroma chemicals.
- Understanding key notes (top, middle, base).
**Session 5: Crafting Accords (1 Hour)**
- **What is an Accord?**
- Explanation of the concept of accords in perfumery.
- **Types of Accords:**
- Discussing commonly used accords (citrus, floral, woody, etc.).

Formulations and homework assignments will be mailed to your mentor for review and feedback.
The student is responsible for scheduling each hour. We suggest spacing them out per week. Rescheduling must take place 24hrs prior or the session will receive a fine of $25. (Must be paid in order to continue)
Students are free to purchase another block of hours as needed.
